1 Who we are

This notice explains how Credit Montana (“Credit Online”, “we”) collects, uses and shares personal information through this website and when you apply for a loan. Contact: info@credit-online71.com · (916) 245-3170 · [address on file].

As a broker we are a financial institution under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). Our GLBA consumer privacy notice is section 9 below.

2 What we collect

From your application: name, date of birth, Social Security number, phone number, email address, home address, housing, number of dependents, military status, income and its source, pay frequency, type of bank account, your own estimate of your credit, and the loan amount and purpose.

Your photo ID: the photo of your driver’s license or passport. We keep a working copy and, where possible, the original file as you sent it, together with technical details read from it (such as when the photo was taken and on what device) to help detect fraud.

Your agreements: which consents you gave, which version of the wording you saw, when, and a one-way code derived from your IP address.

Technical data: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited and error logs, kept to run and protect the site.

From others: if you go ahead, consumer reports from credit bureaus and identity-verification results.

We do not ask for your sex, race, religion or marital status, and we never ask for online-banking passwords.

3 How we use it

to process your application, verify your identity and prevent fraud;
to contact you about your application;
to decide whether to offer credit, or to pass your application to a lender for that purpose;
to meet legal duties (for example the USA PATRIOT Act, the Military Lending Act and record-keeping rules);
to run, secure and improve the site;
to send you marketing, only if you opted in.

4 Who we share it with

Lenders: The lenders listed on the Licenses and disclosures page, to evaluate your application.

Service providers that work for us under contract — hosting, identity verification, credit bureaus, communications: hosting providers, identity verification services, credit bureaus, and communication platforms..

Authorities when the law requires it, and professional advisers when needed to protect our legal rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

5 Cookies and advertising

Necessary cookies make the site work. Analytics and advertising cookies load only if you accept them, and never inside the application form. No answers from the form are sent to advertising networks. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a refusal of advertising cookies. Details are in the Cookie Policy.

6 How we protect it

Information travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Your Social Security number is encrypted in our database and shown to staff only in part unless they open it, which is logged. ID photos are stored outside the public part of the site with restricted access. Staff sign in with two-step verification. We maintain an information security program as required by the FTC Safeguards Rule (16 CFR Part 314).

7 How long we keep it

Applications: 25 months after the date of the notice of action taken on the application. ID photos: 25 months after the date of the notice of action taken. Technical logs: 12 months. Records the law requires us to keep are kept for the required period and then deleted.

8 Your choices and rights

You can opt out of marketing at any time (unsubscribe link, or reply STOP to texts). You can ask us what information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.

Depending on your state you may have additional rights — see Your privacy choices. Information covered by the GLBA is largely exempt from state consumer privacy laws such as the CCPA, but other information we hold (for example, website data) may be covered.

9 GLBA consumer privacy notice

Why? Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share and protect your personal information.

What? The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include your Social Security number and income, your account balances and payment history, and your credit history and credit scores.

How does Credit Montana share your personal information? For everyday business purposes: Yes, we share; you cannot limit this. For marketing purposes: Yes, we share; you can limit this by contacting us. For joint marketing: No. For our affiliates to market to you: No. For nonaffiliates to market to you: No.

10 Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

11 Changes

We will post any changes here with a new date at the top, and tell you directly about material changes where the law requires it.
